Hi. I recently got a publishing deal for a series of children's books and my publisher has asked me to find my own artist for the project, so I put an open call for illustrators on my dA journal page and waited for the submissions to pour in.
But now I'm not convinced that a blog posting will be enough to attract the right kind of submissions, so I'm slogging my way through dA, looking for work that catches my eye, and I've got to say that this image completely captures the sort of whimsical world-view that I'm trying to convey in my books.
Would you be at all interested in submitting a couple of concept sketches? I'd love to see how your "brush" might bring life to the world I've created for my books.
If you ARE interested, you can check out my journal page for the details. If not, I completely understand, but can you suggest anyone else I should look at?
Cute and simple, just enough in the picture to get what is and the colors definitely grab and hold the attention. Bold enough for a children's book, executed to the point where an older person can even appreciate it.
